Geomantic magic and mysteries

with Arkadios Vasco

In this episode of Magical Experiments, I sat down with

who’s fused his healing background with an earth-centered magical practice. Our deep dive revolved around geomancy, an old world divination system that’s as simple as a stick in the dirt, and as profound as the planetary currents themselves.

Arkadios described geomancy as a binary, tactile dialogue with the spirit of the earth. No crystals are required; just earth, metal, ink, or anything drawn from the bones of the planet. From random marks you form tetragrams, which unfold into a twelve-house reading that’s blunt, directive, and deeply practical. If Tarot is the mystical sister and Lenormand the gossipy neighbor, geomancy is the no-nonsense elder telling you exactly what’s going on and what to do next.

We explored its potential beyond simple fortune telling:

  • reading the earth’s energy,

  • tuning into ley lines,

  • layering in astrological currents.

In Arkadios’ view, it’s a direct conduit between chthonic and celestial forces, much like the Hermetic principle “as above, so below” properly understood, as a reciprocal dance between the heavens and the underworld.

Arkadios’ path led him from the US to Portugal, where visits to places like Sintra awoke a sense of ancestral and fae power. His dreams and spirit encounters, particularly with a guiding wolf presence, seem to have been leading him there all along.

We got practical too, talking about adapting geomancy for urban environments, how earth’s potency endures through pollution, and even how your phone’s glass and metal can become the medium for divination. We touched on body-based magic, walking the land, barefoot grounding, and movement practices like Qigong to merge physical presence with geomantic insight.

Arkadios closed with a dream-born piece of wisdom:

“No one can stop me. No one can stand in my way except for you, because you’re the only one strong enough.”

In other words, get out of your own way, connect to the currents that are always there beneath your feet, and let the work move through you.
