A core thread of Polaris’s story is identity as a magical act—shifting forms, choosing names, undergoing one of the earliest documented non-binary affirmation surgeries, and consciously evolving themselves across multiple “versions” on paper and in spirit. They lived for years without a word for what they were, embodying the “third thing” before language caught up.
Reintegrating the Splintered Self
At nine years old, Polaris split their consciousness into two personas—boy and girl—to survive trauma. Decades later, those two selves reintegrated through a process they described as fusion, complete with ritual, witnessing, and a reclaiming of memory and magical capacity. When the feminine self returned, their psychic senses returned with her. This reintegration re-opened their channel to spirit work.
Pop Culture Spirits as Gateways
Polaris rediscovered their magical practices through contacting the spirits of fictional characters, including Pokémon associated with their friends. What began as a DIY guardian-spirit ritual grew into real results—life-saving ones in some cases.
This mirrors my own long-held stance: fiction is an interface to spirit, a mythological access point, a channel to the imaginal. Characters have life, momentum, and pattern—and they respond when approached with respect and technique.

Polaris is now turning their attention toward writing about the life cycle of ideas—how ideas behave like spirits, reproduce through human minds, and develop ecosystems with us. This aligns with the magical theory that ideas, egregores, and deities operate along a spectrum of sentience shaped through human engagement.
